In Adobe Digital Editions, the right-hand side of the top panel allows you to change your view of the book by clicking on one of its icons. Rolling over the icons before clicking will initiate a pop-up burst indicating what that particular icon does. From left to right, these icons are:
You can bookmark an entire page by navigating to it in your Adobe Digital Editions reader and clicking the Bookmark icon that appears on the right-hand side of the top panel. This will open a small window which will allow you to input and save your personal notes.
You can also bookmark a specific phrase on a page: do this simply by highlighting the text you’d like to bookmark, and clicking the Bookmark icon in the top panel.
To view all your bookmarks in a single list, click the Bookmark icon that appears in the left-hand navigation bar, above the book’s title and cover image.
Type a search term or phrase in the search text box that appears on the far right of the top panel (it says “Find” in the text box), and hit Enter or Return. This will automatically call up the first page in your ebook that contains your search term, with the search term highlighted. To scroll through your search results, click the arrows located immediately to the right of the search text box.
Widgets make reviewing and referencing our ebooks easy. They enable you to look at cover art, tables of contents, and ViewInside preview pages. They may also offer full content search. You can embed them in your own website or blog; email them to friends; or use them for social bookmarking on Myspace, Facebook, Shelfari, LibraryThing, Digg, or Delicious.
An ebook (short for electronic book), also known as a digital book, is an e-text that forms the digital media equivalent of a conventional printed book, often restricted with a digital rights management (DRM) system. An ebook, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary of English, is "an electronic version of a printed book which can be read on a personal computer or hand-held device designed specifically for this purpose."
ViewInside offers users the opportunity to sample ebook content online without committing to a purchase. Readers can explore a limited number of pages of each title, search within the content, and change viewing options.
Users who purchase an interRAI ebook receive offline access to the complete text using Adobe Digital Editions, as well as annotation and bookmarking features. Notes and bookmarks are also consolidated across the user's entire "bookshelf" of purchased content.
Once you have purchased an interRAI ebook, you must then download it to your computer. Prior to downloading your ebook, you must install Adobe Digital Editions, the software through which you can view and customize your ebooks. Without this software, you will not be able to access your ebooks.
To download your ebook, login to your account on ebooks.interRAI.org and click “Bookshelf” on the upper right (below the search box). This will bring you to a page listing all the interRAI ebooks you have purchased so far.
Below the description of each ebook, there is a link: “Download PDF with DRM.” "PDF" is the file format in which your ebook appears, and "DRM" is Digital Rights Management – this refers to interRAI’s control of how its ebook content is protected, distributed, and customized. Please refer to the About ebooks page for details on interRAI's DRM policy.
Your purchase entitles you to view and interact with interRAI content offline ONLY using Adobe Digital Editions. You will be buying a a single copy of an interRAI ebook, downloadable to a single computer. You will be able to annotate and bookmark your ebook, however at this time, interRAI ebooks cannot be printed, shared, or appended to email.
